Muumuu and Work Sitchu

I was supposed to be in the Adirondacks this weekend but due to unforeseen familial circumstances I am instead home, stuck in the city, and wishing I was elsewhere. Of course being at work blows even more so at the moment as I'm faced with the realization that I could be hiking right now. It shall now have to wait until the end of the month. Thus, I am sitting at my desk wearing my awesome muumuu (this in a solid berry shade) in protest.

Work is complicated. I came into this job hoping it would be a valuable stepping stone into the art world before graduate school. Just as I am in chemistry classes hoping to prepare for art conservation school my boss has informed me that he would like to see me move up in the company and wants me to take courses and earn a higher degree in this particular field. It turns out that I am really good at something I don't know if I necessarily want to be doing. Go figure. Much has to be considered. Of course, if I moved up in the company, a muumuu at work probably wouldn't fly. That might be an issue for me.

  1. I can tell you that you really don't want to get good at something you don't like. It's a dangerous and seductive path. But if you like it, then just enjoy the recognition of a skillset.

  2. Having had to pay for my own higher education, even if you don't stay with the company, any education that they pay for helps!!
Trust me. You don't want to foot that bill yourself...

    Congrats on your recognition!
